Know the signs of an overdose

Slow or stopped breathing, blue lips, won't wake up — act fast.

An opioid overdose can look like deep sleep, but the person cannot be woken. Watch for very slow, shallow, or stopped breathing; gurgling or snoring sounds; blue or gray lips and fingertips; tiny pupils; and limp arms. If you are not sure, treat it as an overdose. Call 911, give naloxone if you have it, and put them on their side. You cannot hurt someone by giving naloxone if it turns out they were not overdosing.
